Rumors & Allegations: My Response

Context & Clarifications

There have been several claims about me circulating in the furry community. Some have been repeated so many times that people may encounter them without knowing where they originated or what actually happened.Rather than continually responding to individual posts and comments, I decided to put the context in one place.I encourage anyone who has questions about me to read the information below and come to their own conclusions.

The Cub Art Allegation

One of the most serious rumors about me is that I am into or support cub art. This allegation originated from one single piece of artwork that I retweeted once on my furry After Dark account. It was not a commission, it was one single retweet with a reply. Afterward, people began claiming that a character depicted in the artwork was 16 and that I had therefore knowingly shared cub art. When that concern was brought to my attention, I removed the retweet and publicly clarified that I am not interested in or supportive of cub art.I later contacted the artist directly to understand the situation. The artist told me that the character's age was never officially stated by the original creators and that they considered the character an adult in the artwork. They also explained that the size difference was intentional and was not intended to depict the character as a cub. They had also never drawn cub art before which was why I felt it was okay to retweet without even considering how old the character may be.

I understand why people take this subject seriously. I do too. If I had believed the artwork depicted a minor, I would not have shared it.What I don't think is accurate is turning one retweet of artwork that I did not believe to depict a minor into claims that I "love cub art," regularly consume it, or have an interest in minors. Those claims are not true. Frankly, it disgusts me that people actually believe this about me.I removed the retweet when the concern was raised and clarified my position at the time. I am clarifying it here again so that anyone encountering this rumor can see the context for themselves.

A note about my old response video "16 isn't much different from 18"

I previously made a YouTube video addressing this situation while I was overwhelmed by everything being said about me. The video is now private. In that video, while discussing how the animated character in the artwork presented visually, I said that “16 isn’t that much different than 18 in terms of how an animated character can look."That was poorly worded, and I understand why the sentence sounds terrible when removed from the conversation surrounding it.I was not saying that there is no meaningful difference between a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old person. I was talking specifically about trying to determine the intended age of a fictional, animated character based solely on their visual appearance.I should have expressed that much more carefully, and I regret wording it the way I did.

The Racist Screenshot

Another allegation comes from a screenshot that appears to show me posting the statement:“We have to secure the future for our white children uwu.”I did not write or post this. The screenshot is fake. Even people who disliked me at the time spoke out against spreading a fabricated screenshot and misinformation. Despite this, the screenshot continued circulating, and the broader claim that I was "racist" lived on.

I completely reject the statement.Screenshots are extremely easy to manipulate, but once something like this begins circulating, people who encounter it later may assume it was real somewhere along the way.It wasn't posted by me, and it does not represent my beliefs.

The MAGA rumor

I've also repeatedly been called MAGA or a Trump supporter. This rumor appears to have originated after people looked into the political affiliation of someone I previously dated.Someone else's political beliefs do not establish my own.We are no longer together, and I also don't think it's appropriate for people to investigate someone I previously dated in an attempt to determine what I supposedly believe. If you want to judge my beliefs, judge them based on the things I actually say and do rather than the assumed beliefs of someone I dated. For example, I publicly raised $40,000 for the Human Rights Campaign in support of LGBTQ+ rights and equality in June.

About My Other Fursona

Yes, I created and ran another furry character/account. It wasn’t an attempt to deceive people about allegations or secretly “come back” after leaving the fandom. I never stopped being Boof.At the time, the constant negativity surrounding Boof was making it difficult for me to enjoy participating in the fandom, and having another character gave me an opportunity to enjoy creating furry content without all of that baggage attached to it.Having multiple fursonas and fursuits is also not unusual within the fandom. The account’s connection to me eventually became public, and I’ve never denied that the character is mine aside from satire and jokes denying it was me. I thought it was funny that people were making a huge deal about it and started trolling on the account a little bit, which probably wasn't the best idea. So yes, Foros is also my fursona. The furry detectives got me on this one.

Am I a “fake furry”?

I've also seen people claim that I'm not a “real furry” or that I only joined the fandom for attention. There's honestly not much for me to defend here.Boof is my character. I own and wear fursuits, attend furry conventions, commission and enjoy furry art, make furry content, have made friends through the fandom, and participate because it's something I genuinely enjoy. Not to mention my AD account on twitter was created in 2019 and there are tweets from that time to prove it. Which was nearly 6 years before I started posting any furry content as Boof.Nobody has to like me, Boof, or my content. But I'm also not interested in proving that I'm “furry enough” to someone else.

Moving Forward

I understand that being a public creator means people are going to criticize me, disagree with me, or simply not like me. That's okay. What isn't okay is turning rumors, fabricated screenshots, assumptions, or situations stripped of their context into factual claims about someone.I've made this page because I would rather have one place where people can see my response and the available context for themselves than continually argue about the same allegations across social media.I'm not going to spend my time fighting with individual comments or repeatedly responding to things I've already addressed.Boof is a fictional character I made for fun, storytelling, and community. I'm focused on making fun, positive content and keeping this space welcoming. If you enjoy Boof, you're always welcome here.
